Wright Industries Moves Into New Goshen Campus Ahead of Schedule
Wright Industries has already moved into its new 380,000-square-foot campus at 2672 E. Kercher Road in Goshen and begun production, ahead of the formal transition tied to its $18 million, 250-job expansion plan. The site is the former Wabash National Services plant, and the jobs pay up to 125% of Elkhart County's average salary.
Wright is now competing directly against the newly merged Terex Ambulance Group, which reports nearly $4.4 billion in unfulfilled backlog and controls Horton, Wheeled Coach, Road Rescue, and AEV. Wright advertises a 90-day delivery window against industry lead times one Pulaski County dealer put at 30 months. A separate discrepancy remains unresolved: Wabash's WARN notice listed 144 affected Goshen workers, not the 214 figure cited in the governor's original announcement.
- Impact
- The real story is competitive: Wright, founded in 2025, is now going head-to-head with the newly merged Terex Ambulance Group (REV Group plus Terex, February 2026), which controls Horton, Wheeled Coach, Road Rescue and AEV and reported nearly $4.4 billion in unfulfilled backlog as a feature rather than a failure: Wright's advertised 90-day delivery window directly undercuts that posture, and one Pulaski County dealer rep cited industry lead times running 30 months, meaning Wright's promise is roughly a 10x speed advantage if it holds. A company moving from 250 delivered units to a 4x footprint increase in 18 months, without disclosing a forward order book, signals committed volume nobody has yet put a number on.
- Watch
- Whether Wright Industries discloses any forward contract or order-book detail justifying the footprint expansion, and resolution of the 144-vs-214 Wabash job-loss discrepancy.
- For the huddle
With Wright and Medix Specialty Vehicles both chasing welders and assemblers out of the same displaced Wabash workforce, are we watching Elkhart County wage benchmarks closely enough to avoid losing our own skilled trades to a 125%-of-county-average pay floor?
Watch both wage benchmarks and site competition in your county now, because a company moving at Wright's pace or a site selector drawn to Plymouth's zoning could pull skilled labor and attention away from your own hiring and expansion plans before either outcome is finalized.
