Indiana RV Manufacturing Jobs in Bristol, a Fort Wayne Anodizing Expansion, and a Data Center Rate Fight for Manufacturers

Indiana RV manufacturing jobs in Bristol, a $4M Fort Wayne anodizing bet, Camp Atterbury drone testing, and a data center rate fight for Indiana manufacturers.

Four stories broke this week that put real numbers on where Indiana manufacturing capital, labor and power are headed: a $2 million RV startup launch in Bristol built around Indiana RV manufacturing jobs, a $4 million equipment bet by a Fort Wayne anodizing shop, a newly opened Army drone testing range in Edinburgh, and a $1.2 billion Texas utility capex plan carrying an Indiana ratepayer fight. Each one lands on a plant leader's desk as a decision this quarter, not a line in next year's annual report.

Braun Touts $110 Million in Road Grants and Boundless Recreation's Bristol Launch

Governor Mike Braun used an Oct. 28 economic summit in South Bend to announce Boundless Recreation's launch in Bristol, targeting up to 115 jobs by 2028, alongside $110 million in INDOT Community Crossings grants that send $255,000 to Elkhart and nearly $337,000 to Elkhart County.

Are we competing with Boundless's 125%-of-county-average wage offer for the same skilled assembly and QC workers, and what's our retention plan before 2028?

Indiana RV Manufacturing Jobs in Bristol Come From a Bet Against a Shrinking Market

Boundless Recreation founder Nate Nickell built his career running Forest River RV in Elkhart and serving as vice president of sales at Crossroads RV in LaGrange County before putting $2 million into a 104,000 square foot plant at 705 Maple Street in Bristol. The company has already hired 45 workers toward a 2028 target of 115, backed by up to $1.4 million in state tax credits that only pay out once the jobs and investment are actually in place.

For the huddle
If component pricing power consolidates under a combined Patrick-Lippert supplier, do we have alternate sourcing relationships lined up the way Boundless will need?

Northern Indiana Anodize's $4 Million Fort Wayne Equipment Bet

Northern Indiana Anodize held an Oct. 22 ribbon cutting at its 13010 Bluffton Road plant in Allen County for a $4 million expansion that adds a crane line, automation, material handling and waste treatment equipment inside its existing 90,000 square foot footprint rather than new building space.

If our finishing or coating lines use PTFE or fluoropolymer chemistries, have we modeled what an EPA PFAS discharge rule could cost us in 2026-27?

Could our precision machining or electronics assembly capacity plug into LUCAS-style drone subcontracting now that Camp Atterbury has a validated testing track record?

CenterPoint's $1.2 Billion Capex Plan Hides an Indiana Ratepayer Fight

CenterPoint Energy CEO Jason Wells told investors in late July that the Houston based utility is adding $1.2 billion to its $65.5 billion capital plan, with most of the increase driven by 17 gigawatts of large load data center projects submitted to ERCOT. CenterPoint also serves parts of Indiana, and Wells disclosed a separate roughly 700 megawatt Indiana deal that would require about $700 million in grid work.

As utilities prioritize capital toward large-load data center customers, what's our plan if our own interconnection requests get queued behind a hyperscaler project?
