Exhibit A Plastics Opens New Bainbridge Facility, Relocates From Coatesville

Exhibit A Plastics held a ribbon-cutting October 22 at its new facility in Bainbridge (Putnam County), almost exactly a year after breaking ground and after relocating from a leased building in Coatesville it had occupied for roughly 24 years. The move came after the Coatesville building's original owner died and the new owner wanted a different direction for the property. The company now employs 36 people, is interviewing to reach 40, and has installed three new injection-mold machines for a projected 20% increase in capacity.

Co-owner Tom Jackson said at the October 22 ribbon cutting, as reported by the Banner Graphic, that the company built rather than closed because "we didn't want to un-employ forty people," a detail that leaves out a supply chain dependency worth knowing. Exhibit A supplies parts to Heartland Automotive, which in turn supplies Subaru's Lafayette plant, making Exhibit A a sub-supplier to a sub-supplier rather than a direct Subaru vendor. The relocation also crossed a county line, from Hendricks into Putnam, landing the company near Heartland's Greencastle facility just as Subaru ramps production of the Forester Hybrid, its first U.S.-built hybrid, which launched in February 2026.

Impact
Jackson's own framing, 'we didn't want to un-employ forty people', undersells a supply-chain dependency the article doesn't name: Exhibit A supplies parts to Heartland Automotive, which feeds Subaru's Lafayette plant, making Exhibit A a sub-supplier to a sub-supplier rather than a direct SIA vendor. The relocation also crossed a county line from Hendricks to Putnam County, landing Exhibit A near Heartland's Greencastle facility and Chiyoda USA's Conexus-backed automotive cluster, timing that lines up with SIA's February 2026 launch of the Forester Hybrid, its first U.S.-built hybrid model.
Watch
Watch whether Heartland Automotive's order volume scales further as SIA ramps Forester Hybrid production, since that would pull more overflow work into the 20% capacity buffer Exhibit A just built.
For the huddle

Do we know how exposed our own Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers are to single-customer concentration the way Exhibit A now depends on Heartland Automotive's order flow rather than a direct Subaru contract?

If one or two accounts make up most of your order volume, you carry the same customer concentration these two companies just built new capacity around, and you should know today what happens to your plant if that account slows down.
